The 83rd Texas Legislature passed HB 5 in 2013; this law revised the graduation program for Texas students entering ninth grade beginning with the 2014-15 school year and for every class thereafter.
Most students graduating prior to 2018 will graduate under the existing Recommended High School Program. Thereafter, students will have the option of graduating with an endorsement in Arts and Humanities, Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics, or the Multi-Disciplinary Endorsement.
While possible for students to graduate without an endorsement, the district expectation is that all staff will support, and the prevailing expectation is, that every senior will earn one or more endorsements prior to graduation.
