Meeting Protocols

School Board meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month @ 6:30 pm at the Prairie Lea High School Cafeteria located at 6910 San Marcos Hwy, Prairie Lea, TX  78661 unless otherwise indicated.  All meetings are open to the public. At the beginning of each regular session the public is invited to sign up to address the board during public comment with any concerns or questions they may have. The PLISD Board of Trustees highly encourages all stakeholders (teachers, parents, community members, etc.) to contact district or campus administrators and/or teachers regarding complaints, issues, or concerns prior to speaking in a public setting during Board Meetings. Following the proper chain of command is recommended at all times when attempting to seek remedy or solution.

Topics addressed by community members during the open forum portion of the meeting cannot be commented upon by board members unless the topic has been posted on the board agenda.

The board is free to have a concern brought to their attention during the public forum to be address in a subsequent meeting by having it placed on that agenda.

In certain circumstances, Texas law permits the board to go into a closed session from which the public and others are excluded but each meeting concludes in during an open session.
