BOARD ELECTION: MAY 3, 2025

The next PLISD Board of Trustees election will be held on May 3, 2025, in Caldwell and Guadalupe Counties, Texas.

THREE (3) At-Large trustee positions will be on the ballot to serve a three-year term. Eligibility requirements for public office are prescribed in Texas Election Code Section 141.001, Subchapter A [Election Code].

An application for place on the ballot must be filed with the Superintendent's office by mail or email (krausa@plisd.net) or in person during regular business hours, beginning Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and ending at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025.

The following PLISD Board of Trustees positions will be open for election to office on May 6, 2025.

Important 2025 Election Dates:

January 15, 2025 - First Day to File

February 14, 2025 – Last Day to File (Deadline 5 p.m.)

February 18, 2025 - Last Day to File a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy  

April 3, 2025– Last Day to Register to Vote in the May Election 
April 22 through April 29, 2025 – Early Voting in Person 
May 3, 2025 – Election Day

The Prairie Lea ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven trustees elected to serve for overlapping terms of three years each.  Elections are conducted in May in accordance with the Texas Secretary of State Uniform Election Calendar. While candidates run for specific places, they do not represent specific geographical areas; rather, each represents PLISD at large.

2025 Trustee Election Documents

The district will post documents on the web once the Prairie Lea ISD Board of Trustees adopts and signs them. Fully executed copies of documents are on file with the district, if not posted on this page, and available to the public upon request. 

In accordance with Texas Election Code, Section 2.053(a), the Board of Trustees may declare unopposed candidates for Office as elected to their position.

Do you want to run for a position on the PLISD Board of Trustees?

All school board positions are three-year terms and represent the entire school district. Per Policy BBA(Legal), the following conditions must be met in order to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, the office of school board member:

  1. Be a United States Citizen.

  2. Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable.

  3. Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

  4. Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.

  5. Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:

    1. For an independent candidate: the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate’s application for a place on the ballot.

    2. For a write-in candidate: the date of the election at which the candidate’s name is written in.

    3. For an appointee to an office: the date the appointment is made.

  6. Be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described in item 5, above. See Policy BBA(Legal) for a description of a “Qualified Voter.”
