Happy Friday Everyone! I wanted to reach out to inform you of some changes we are making in how we conduct our District Safety protocols regarding student, faculty, and staff safety. Unfortunately, yesterday our office staff made a mistake in handling a student situation and an employee enacted a "soft-lockdown" without proper authorization. I assure you this was done with the greatest of intentions regarding the safety our students but caused unnecessary concern and left many people upset. I apologize for all of this, and I promise this will not happen again.

Going forward, PLISD will be implementing and executing the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) for all safety situations throughout our District.

You can find more information on this at:

I am also conducting a mandatory training session for all district employees on Monday, September 16, 2024.

*The safety and security of all PLISD Students, Faculty, and Staff is my #1 priority while serving as your Superintendent.

Together, we will get PLISD where it needs to be and move our district forward in all things.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian McCraw, Ed.D.

Superintendent
